During her first few years as a tenure-track professor at a predominantly White institution, Dr. Richards experienced significant resistance to her efforts to engage students in conversations about race and racism.

 

RaceTalk LLC reflects Dr. Richards’ creative solutions to her students’ resistance. She created her first “racetalk” workshop for her students in 2015 and began implementing it in all of her courses when she observed its success.

 

Dr. Richards’ approach is consistent with empirically-based best practices, and she has now incorporated it as part of her research agenda. Given her passion for racial justice, she has decided to share her racetalk tools and strategies with those who are interested in improving their ability to engage in cross-racial dialogues about race and racism.
